Kyle Davies picked up his second win of the year and sent his ERA to 0.90, second-best in the Pacific Coast League behind Tucson top prospect Max Scherzer, by pitching seven shutout innings allowing just two hits, with no walks in a 12-4 victory Tuesday before 17,277 on Youth Day at Rosenblatt Stadium.
Dave Matranga, Damon Hollins, Shane Costa, and Brian Buchanan helped give Davies a 7-0 lead after two innings. Matranga, getting just his third start of the season, batted leadoff and reached base in all five of his plate appearances, scoring three runs and driving in two more. Hollins had a two-run triple in the first inning and a three-run homer in the fourth. Costa hit a two-run homer, and Buchanan sprayed out three hits.
