Nebraskans who have exhausted their unemployment benefits could be eligible for additional help. Recent legislation changes the maximum number of weeks that a person with a Nebraska claim can collect unemployment benefits. State Labor commissioner Catherine Lang indicates to us that those qualifying are actively looking for work.
“They need to be actively seeking employment while they are seeking benefits they would not be eligible during that week.”
Lange estimates close to four thousand unemployed Nebraskans have had their benefits run out.
