Concordia’s Schmidt will step down at A.D.

Grant Schmidt, who recently picked up his 400th win as men’s basketball coach at Concordia University, said he will step aside as the school’s Athletic Director at the end of the this month to meet the demands of coaching.

Schmidt has been head coach of Concordia’s men’s basketball program since 1989. Entering 2009-10, Schmidt’s .630 winning percentage is good for 13th in the NAIA top 25 winningest active coaches list. Schmidt is the only coach from the Great Plains Athletic Conference on the list.

The winningest coach in school history, Schmidt picked up his 400th win on Nov. 5, 2009, when Concordia defeated Concordia Seminary 86-55 in St. Louis.
