Linebacker Williams released from scholarship

True freshmen linebacker Chris Williams, a highly touted recruit from Texas is leaving the NU program. In fact, he’s already gone and back home in Abilene. Williams wouldn’t comment to the Big Red Report on why he is leaving, but it’s been known for awhile that he has been frustrated with his rehab on his knee which has kept him off of the practice field.

Williams was a Texas Class 5A defensive player of the year, but suffered a major knee injury his senior season and he never really healed enough to practice with the Huskers. Sean Callahan will provide more in his report.

Plus, you’ll also hear from tight end Mike McNeil and the importance of the bowl win. I just took a quick look at the Arizona schedule where the Wildcats went 8-4. Their losses came at Iowa, who is playing in the Orange Bowl. At Washington, who also beat USC on the Huskies home field, at Cal, who is playing in a bowl and Oregon who is playing in the Rose Bowl, so quite a resume for Arizona.

Listen to the Big Red Report.
