Catholic Bishops support prenatal care for illegal immigrants

Governor Heineman is receiving a letter from Nebraska’s Catholic bishops. Jim Cunningham with the Nebraska Catholic Conference tells us that they are urging the governor to reconsider his opposition to state-funded pre-natal care for illegal immigrants.

“The Catholic Bishops view this as an important pro-life matter for protecting the health and well being of unborn children in a very critical stage in their growth and development.”

Heineman announced last week that he opposes a legislative proposal to restore government-funded, pre-natal care to low-income women who are in the U.S. illegally.
