A lawsuit has been filed by two Garden County ranchers against two Lincoln County feed suppliers, claiming a feed supplement killed hundreds of their cattle.

Mike and Belinda Tipton operate a ranch near Lewellen and are suing Becker Family Farms and Midwest Renewable Energy for more than one million dollars. The lawsuit claims that an ethanol byproduct that the Tiptons purchased from Becker Farms, which was provided by Midwest Renewable Energy near Sutherland, contained toxic levels of nitrates. The Tiptons say hundreds of their cattle have been killed by the alleged tainted feed. The Tiptons say Becker Farms and Midwest Renewable Energy breached a contract to provide safe cattle feed.

The lawsuit was filed recently in Lincoln County District Court. A trial date has not yet been set.
