The Nebraska State Education Commissioner is being urged by State Education Board member Bob Evnen to reconsider his decision to not ask department employees to participate in the two day work furloughs and salary freeze requested by the governor.
“It’s emblematic of the Department of Education’s solidarity with the rest of the state that the department recognizes the financial circumstances that we’re in.”
Commissioner Roger Breed had said that the two unpaid furlough days would have disrupted services while producing “minimal savings”.
