A teacher employed by the Beatrice School District in 2009 is suing the district, saying she was mistakenly given an insulin injection when she went to a school nurse’s office to get a flu shot.
Kari Daniels had filed a tort claim last December 12th, against Beatrice Public School District 15. The district’s board had not acted on the claim within six months, and it was withdrawn on July 26th.
In the Gage County District Court lawsuit, Daniels says she had to be treated for insulin shock at Beatrice Community Hospital. Last September 28th, the lawsuit states Daniels had gone to the school nurse’s office for a flu shot, but instead was given 50 units of insulin. Daniels is NOT diabetic. The lawsuit claims insulin was also mistakenly given to another employee.
The lawsuit says afterward, Daniels suffered symptoms of sweating, nausea, dizziness, headaches and disorientation. The suit filed Thursday, seeks an unspecified damage amount for injuries, lost pay and lost vacation time.
