New season, new scoreboard, new uniforms…same solid team. The Nebraska-Omaha football team will open it’s 99th season ranked 18th in Division II according to D-2 Football.com, and will sport new jerseys as well as show off a new scoreboard at Al F. Caniglia Field, when the Mavs kick off their season with Nebraska-Kearney Saturday at 6pm.
The Lopers who lost last week in overtime to Wayne State dropped out of the top 25 after starting the season ranked 13th.
The Mavs, who will wear black jerseys at home will battle to get the Victory Bell back in Omaha after the Lopers beat the Mavericks 31-28 last season to win the bell for the first time in seven meetings. UNO had won the Victory Bell during the first six years.
