Governor Dave Heineman is responding to a request from State Auditor Mike Foley to review individual health care records of state employees after learning that Nebraska pays a cost to insure employees that is much higher than many other states.
“26% of our workforce signed up for our wellness program, their health insurance costs are going down this year, we learned from the private sector and it’s working for us.”
Heineman says Foley should not have access to individual health care records as federal law ensures those records stay between the patient and their doctor.
