State Fair brings in more than 309,000

Final attendance numbers are being released for the first State Fair in Grand Island. Numbers show 309,400 people attended the fair this year. Last year’s fair in Lincoln brought in over 367,000 visitors. In 2008, attendance nearly matched the numbers from Grand Island. Governor Dave Heineman is pleased with the turnout.

“I wanna say a special thank you to the people of central and western Nebraska have turned out in record numbers, we’re just proud of everyone, and especially the youth that have been involved.”

The Governor hopes more people from Lincoln and Omaha will attend the fair next year.
