Former Nebraska Lt. Governor Kim Robak was considering a run for retiring U-S Senator Ben Nelson’s seat in Congress. She stated for two weeks after Senator Nelson announced his retirement she was seriously looking at campaigning. She says when former Senator Bob Kerrey stepped forward she and others backed down.
Robak says it is too late in the game now for her to start a Senate campaign. She says Bob Kerrey’s late decision not to run makes it tough for other Democratic candidates to get the ball rolling.
Robak was appointed Lt. Governor by then Governor Ben Nelson in 1993 and held that position until 1999.
