How much do 6,000 quarters weigh, anyway?

Lincoln police might be looking for a thief who has bulging pockets — or who jingles when he walks.

A car wash in Nebraska’s capitol city was broken into earlier this week, sometime between Monday and Wednesday afternoon.

It’s a self-service car wash, so the currency is quarters.  The thief made off with about 6,000 shiny quarter-dollars.

Lincoln police say he got away, well, clean. The door to the car wash’s business office wasn’t damaged — and the manager says it was locked.

If you’re still trying to do the math in your head, six-thousand quarters equates to $1,500.
