Woman dies from Bellevue shooting; suspect is her stepfather

Bellevue Police confirm that 21-year-old Michala Pomfret, who was shot Tuesday morning just before 10:14 am at 27th and Crawford Street, died this morning.

Neighbors say Pomfret was shot several times in the head and face. One neighbor also says a man was seen running from the home immediately after the shots were fired.

The suspect, Michael Williams, was two blocks away in his apartment. Williams is Pomfret’s stepfather. Police say he was unconscious at the time. He remains hospitalized and is still in that condition. Police report that the preliminary report on his condition is that he is expected to survive. Why he was unconscious is not known.

Bellevue police also report they will aggressively pursue this matter and will continue to work with the Sarpy County Attorney’s Office. Williams could be charged with Pomfret’s murder.
