Two construction workers suspected of stealing prescriptions from homes

Two employees of a construction company working in south-central Nebraska have been arrested, suspected of stealing prescription medication from homes in Nebraska and Kansas.

The Nebraska State Patrol reports that 19-year-old Shaun Swindell and 32-year-old Cory Carstens, both of Grand Island, face burglary charges and have been incarcerated in the Hall County jail.

Thursday, a rural Franklin County resident reported to authorities that she returned home to find a man going through her medicine cabinet. The man fled in a pickup that belonged to a regional construction company with offices in Grand Island. A second man fled on foot.

Investigators from the patrol and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office paid a visit to the company offices in Grand Island and arrested the two after discovering prescription medication bottles in the pickup.

Investigators suspect the two have been involved in a number of home break-ins in south-central Nebraska and northern Kansas.

The patrol asks homeowners in the area who may be missing prescription medication to call the Nebraska State Patrol Troop C Headquarters at 308-385-6000.
