Four state schools set for NAIA baseball today

Four Nebraska state colleges have earned seeds in regional play in the NAIA baseball national championships that begins today.  Peru State, York, Bellevue and Doane College will all represent the state this weekend. 

Peru State earned the #4 seed in the Paducah, KY tournament after winning the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament. The Bobcats (27-27) will play Grand View (Iowa) at 10 a.m. this morning. Peru State is playing in their first NAIA national tournament.

York reached the NAIA field by winning the MCAC Tournament, which included two wins against in-state Bellevue University. The Panthers (39-17) are the #4 seed in the Oklahoma City bracket and will play Mount Marty at 11 a.m. this morning. The winner will play No. 1 Oklahoma City (43-9) at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, Bellevue joins Peru State in Paducah as the #3 seed and plays this afternoon at 2pm against Lindsey Wilson (KY). The Bruins (39-19) earned an at-large berth by winning the MCAC regular-season title with a 17-3 mark.

Doane College is a #5 seed and plays in the Marion, IN bracket. The Tigers (33-19) got in by winning the Great Plains Athletic Conference regular-season title. Doane will play Mount Vernon Nazarene (OH) today at noon. The winner will play top-seeded and defending national champion Concordia (CA) in an 8 p.m. game. Concordia is the defending national champion.
