Four team playoff preferred by league commissioners

The BCS conference commissioners met in Chicago yesterday and worked on proposals for a four-team playoff to determine college football’s national champion and now they will be presented the BCS presidential oversight committee with multiple formats from which to choose.

The only thing off the table, according to BCS executive director Bill Hancock, is the “status quo.” Neither Hancock nor the commissioners ruled out a plus-one model, but their focus is on a four-team playoff.

The commissioners are scheduled to meet again next week in Chicago and the presidential oversight committee is set to meet June 26 in Washington.
