Arizona completes first shutout at CWS since 1980

Stony Brook’s Cinderella story at the College World Series came to a quick end Sunday with a 12-2 loss to Florida State. The Seawolves are the first to be sent home from Omaha. Seminole second baseman Devon Thomas led the offense with three hits, including a two run homer, and three RBIs. Mike Compton picked up his 12th win allowing six hits and two runs over six innings.

In the night’s second game, Arizona shutout out UCLA 4-0 as Konner Wade tossed a five hit complete game shutout. The Wildcats scored all the runs in the fourth on a two run single by Seth Mejias-Brean and a two run double by Bobby Brown. It was the first shutout at the CWS since 1980.

Two more games are set for today at TD Ameritrade Park. The first is an elimination showdown between Kent State and Florida, and the nightcap will pit SEC rivals South Carolina and Arkansas.
