Omaha standoff ends – one man shot

A 2 1/2 hour standoff ends in Omaha with one man shot and rushed to a hospital. This started at 9 am near 141st and Blondo when Omaha police stopped a vehicle. That man refused to cooperate or get out of his vehicle. He was armed.

About 20 police cars blocked the area and some residents were asked to leave their homes or stay inside. A negotiator was brought in to speak with the man but the altercation ended with gunfire involving a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy. It is not known of the suspect pointed his weapon or fired any shots at law enforcement.

The suspect was taken from his vehicle and then to a hospital. His condition now is not known. Authorities confirm the suspect had been involved in a domestic disturbance prior to the traffic stop.
