A horrific traffic crash in which two semi tractor-trailers burst into flames killed two men early this morning on U.S. Highway 30 near Silver Creek.

The Nebraska State Patrol reports a westbound semi crossed the centerline of Highway 30 just after 1:30 this morning, clipping a semi traveling east. The westbound rig spun off and struck another eastbound semi head-on. The two trucks burst into flames.

The fiery collision killed both drivers. The driver of the first eastbound semi wasn’t injured, according to the patrol. The identifications of the two drivers killed in the crash are being withheld pending the notification of their families.

The patrol has closed a section of Highway 30 while it investigates the accident and cleans up the mess. Traffic is being detoured westbound at westbound at Silver Creek onto Highway 39. Eastbound traffic is being detoured at the Highway 92 junction, according to NSP.
