Autopsies used to identify drivers in fiery crash near Silver Creek July 3rd

It took autopsies to identify the two drivers killed in a semi-tractor trailer wreck July 3rd near Silver Creek in which two trucks collided and burst into flames.

The Merrick County Attorney identifies the victims as 25-year-old Strahinja Krupnikovic of Harwood Heights, Ill., the driver of the westbound semi, and 35-year-old Thomas House of Fremont, the driver of the second eastbound semi. Both Krupnikovic and House died at the scene.

The Nebraska State Patrol reports the fiery, fatal crash occurred in the early morning hours of the 3rd when Krupnikovic, driving west on Highway 30, crossed the centerline and clipped an eastbound semi. Krupnikovic’s truck spun off into the eastbound lane and struck the truck driven by House head-on. The trucks burst into flames upon impact.

The third driver, 40-year-old James T. Ganser Long Pine was not injured.

The Patrol and the Department of Roads closed a section of Highway 30 four miles west of Silver Creek for 12 hours to investigate the accident.
