Dagundaro leads Nigeria to first Olympic appearance

Former Husker basketball player Ade Dungadaro and his fellow Nigerian teammates are headed to the Olympics for the first time in that country’s history. Nigeria beat the Dominican Republic 88-73 in the final qualifying game in Venezuela to punch a ticket to London for men’s basketball.  Down 14-6 early, Nigeria went on a run capped by Dungadaro’s steal and bucket that gave them a 15-14 lead they would never lose. Nigeria will be in the same group as Team USA.

Gregory Echenique, who plays for Creighton, and his Venezuelan teammates did not qualify for the Olympics.
