Two of Omaha’s top players were in the All-Stars Futures game in Kansas City. Outfielder Wil Myers went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and pitcher Jake Odorizzi got the start for the USA squad that beat the World team 17-5. Odorizzi allowed one run and struck out one in his only inning of work. He is 5-0 with a 2.83 ERA in Omaha since a promotion from Class AA Northwest Arkansas in mid-May. Myers played all nine innings. He is hitting .315 with 14 homers in 48 games for the Storm Chasers. USA manager George Brett wanted the hometown crowd to get a good look at the Royals’ future. It was his decision to start Odorizzi and play Myers the entire game. Myers will most likely be called up to the big league level sometime this season.
