Omaha Storm Chasers lose shootout with I-Cubs

The Omaha Storm Chasers dropped a wild one to the Iowa Cubs, losing 12-11 in their first game back from the All-Star game. Tony Abreu and Max Ramirez each drove in two runs in the loss. Jeremy Jeffress was handed the loss after allowing four runs to score in his single inning on the hill. Left-hander Doug Davis started for the Chasers (56-36) and was roughed up for six runs over his 5.0 innings on the mound.

Omaha looked to have blown things wide open with a six-run third inning, but Iowa put up four runs in the fifth to trim the Chasers lead to 7-6 and eventually tied the ballgame in the sixth on a solo home run.  All-Star Wil Myers, who had been given the night off, was called off the bench in the bottom of the sixth to pinch-hit and he delivered with a single that brought home two.

However, Iowa struck for five runs to take a 12-9 lead. The Chasers scored two in the bottom of the seventh, but stalled from there.
