Strong return to the mound for Omaha’s Verdugo

Ryan Verdugo tossed six strong innings in his return to the rotation and Wil Myers homered in Omaha’s 4-1 decision over Round Rock Monday night in the last of four meetings at the Dell Diamond. The Storm Chasers took three out of four in the set to claim the season series, 13-3, and improve to 61-42 overall.

Verdugo, making his first start with Omaha since July 5, departed after allowing four hits while walking two and matching a season-high with eight strikeouts to beat the Express for a third time in as many starts. Vin Mazzaro followed with three scoreless frames, yielding two hits, issuing one walk and recording a pair of strikeouts to nail down the second save of his professional career.
