Fire officials in north-central Nebraska say the two remaining wildfires in the Niobrara River Valley are now 100% contained.
Crews are now patrolling for hot spots and mop-up duty.
Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Deb Fischer toured the wildfire areas on Saturday, and tells Nebraska Radio Network affiliate KBRB in Ainsworth, Nebraska, she is proud of the support.
“You see the outpouring of support from all across Nebraska. But, especially from the communities here that are affected by this horrible event”, Fischer says “It’s truly amazing”.
Fischer says putting out those fires is costly and she will help get public and private funding to cover those expenses.
Nebraska Emergency Management officials say the three fires burned about 73,000 acres.
The fires also destroyed 14 buildings and 17 associate out-buildings.
