There is a lot of activity at the Iowa School for the Deaf campus in Council Bluffs this week. Gina Munson is a recreational therapist at Immanuel Hospital – Alegent Health in Omaha and is the coordinator for the week long Jr. Wheelchair Sports Camp. She says professionals in hand-cycling, tennis, fencing and other sports are helping with workshops this week. Munson says this is a great way for kids to develop an interest in sports and build friendships outside of their family circle.
Kids will have an opportunity to try hand-cycling, swimming, tennis, and fencing and with the help of Lewis Central High School football players they will be able to toss a ball around with the mentors.
This is the 22nd year for the camp and it is provided at no charge to families.
