An argument Tuesday night in Omaha leads to one man accused of animal cruelty. Mark Langan is the President of Field Operations for the Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha and says Omaha police officers responding to a domestic violence call found a Chihuahua that had been severely injured.
Langan says the dog had been kicked off a retaining wall and landed in the street. It suffered spinal injuries and internal bleeding and had to be euthanized.
28 year old Anthony Stevens is charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty but Langan says they are consulting with the Douglas County Attorney’s office to see if this case can be prosecuted as a felony.
