With temperatures at the 100-degree mark for weeks, people have been heading to the Elkhorn River in eastern Nebraska for relief. With more people often comes more problems and Papio-Missouri Natural Resources District General Manager John Winkler says recent concerns have led them to bring in more law enforcement officers to three of their parks along the river.
Winkler says they have seen an increase in litter, alcohol use and people on the river without a life jacket. He says they want people to come out and enjoy the river but everyone must follow the rules.
They have three parks along the Elkhorn River… Graske and Elkhorn Crossing and the West Maple Road Access Site.
