Husker Olympic update for 8/8

Team USA women’s basketball won 91-48 and forced Canada into three shotclock violations in the first seven minutes. Former Husker Chelsea Aubry was one of just two Canadians to score in double figures against the U.S. The 6’2 forward hit 4 of 6 shots from the field for 10 points, grabbed two rebounds and had one steal. Team USA advances into the semifinals. The U.S. held Canada to the fewest points it has given up in an Olympic quarterfinals since beating Slovakia 58-43 in 2000.

Former Husker Jordan Larson, had 11 points on nine kills and two blocks as the U.S. women’s volleyball team remained undefeated at the London Olympics with a straight-set victory over the Dominican Republic on Tuesday night to advance to the semifinals. The United States easily managed the 25-14, 25-21, 25-22 sweep without captain Lindsey Berg, who hurt her left ankle in the final preliminary match against Turkey on Sunday. The U.S. will face South Korea in Thursday’s semifinals. The Americans beat the South Koreans 3-1 in their Olympic opener.
