Former Husker Jordan Burroughs, representing the United States has advanced to the gold medal match in the men’s 74kg freestyle weight class. He won his semifinal in a rematch of the finals at the 2011 World Championships against Russia’s Denis Tsargush.
After falling behind, Burroughs battled back to win it. He then surged ahead with a takedown near the end of the third period to clinch the match. Burroughs defeated the two-time World Champion, just as he did in that tournament in 2011. Burroughs won his quarterfinal match against Canada’s Matthew Gentry, and his first match against Peurto Rico’s Francisco Daniel Soler Tanco.
He advances to the gold medal match Friday afternoon against Iran’s Sadegh Saeed Goudarzi.
