Husker soccer tunes up with a shutout

Nebraska Sophomore Samantha Areman and freshman Caroline Flynn each scored a goal in a 2-0 shutout over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Junior goalie Emma Stevens, faced just two shots on goal on the night.

The Huskers took the lead early in the second half, as Flynn scored on a rebound in front of the net at the 48:42 mark. NU held onto its lead with strong defense and added an insurance goal with Areman’s goal at 70:07. The Huskers outshot the Jackrabbits, 18-6, on the night and also produced nine corner kicks to SDSU’s one. Nebraska will open the season this Friday at Oklahoma, then return home on Sunday for against Drake.
