Three traffic stops, more than 50 lbs of marijuana seized on I-80

State troopers have been busy lately busting motorists on I-80 on drug charges.

The Nebraska State Patrol reports that three separate traffic stops netted 55 lbs of marijuana.

The largest take came this past weekend when a trooper stopped a late-model car near the Lincoln Airport exit for following too close and discovered just over 39 lbs of marijuana in the trunk of the car. The trooper seized about two pounds of hashish as well. 31-year-old Hai Hoang Nguyen of San Bernardino, CA is in the Lancaster County jail on a possession charge with intent to sell.

Also this weekend, a trooper stopped another late-model car for failing to signal a turn at the Bradshaw exit in York County. The trooper found ten pounds of marijuana in two boxes in the trunk of the car. The driver, 24-year-old Electra Walker of Pomona, CA, and her passenger, 37-year-old Troy Walker of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, have been charged with possession and intent to sell. Both have been jailed in York County.

Monday, a speeding stop in Hamilton County near the Aurora exit netted six pounds of marijuana after a drug dog sniffed out the marijuana contained in a duffle bag in the trunk of the late-model car. Driver Daniel Wailand, a 39-year-old from Davenport, IA, has been charged with intent to sell. He is now a resident of the Hamilton County jail.
