Storm Chasers drop magic number on gem by Odorizzi

Storm Chasers start Jake Odorizzi carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning while Irving Falu and Max Ramirez each drove in a pair of runs as Omaha blanked Las Vegas, 7-0. The Storm Chasers won their eighth straight road game to improve to 74-50 overall and reduced their magic number to clinching consecutive division titles to four.

Odorizzi retired the first 12 hitters he faced before running into his first bit of trouble when Jack Cust drew a leadoff walk in the fifth and moved to second on an Anthony Seratelli fielding error that put two runners on base. However, Odorizzi induced a double play and another ground out ended the threat.

The young right-hander then set down the next five batters in a row before Cust walked again before Chris Woodward spoiled the no-hit bid with a single to center field on his 104th pitch of the game. Odorizzi got out of the inning and finished with one hit, two walks and four strikeouts in picking up his ninth Triple-A win.
