Explosion at a Southeast Nebraska plant, 2 injured

Two workers have been injured in an explosion at the Koch Nitrogen Plant in Beatrice this morning.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue Captain Craig Fisher says responders were called to the plant around 5:00 a.m. this morning.

One person suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln. Another worker was hospitalized at a Beatrice hospital with minor injuries.

The explosion did not cause a fire. Investigators believes overpressurization caused the explosion.
