Larson returns to Lincoln and Omaha hoops star enrolls at NU

On Sunday, Jordan Larson, silver medal winner for Team USA volleyball, spent two hours signing autographs for 475 fans who showed up a Lincoln sporting goods store to celebrate the former Husker’s achievements.

Former Omaha Central basketball star Deverrell Biggs has enrolled at Nebraska, where the junior college All-American will have two years of eligibility with the Husker basketball team. Biggs, after finishing the season at Seward County (Kan.) Community College, needed more hours to get his degree in order to enroll at NU, went to Central CC in Columbus, NE, over the summer to complete his work. Biggs is expected to sit out the 2012-13 season as a redshirt. But now that he is enrolled, and he can practice with the team.

The Missouri Valley Conference has added Dallas Baptist University as a member in baseball and DBU will be eligible to compete for the league’s automatic NCAA bid beginning in 2014. The Patriots are coached by Dan Heefner, an original member of Ed Servais’ staff at Creighton in the 2004 season.
