Former Husker recruit, Starling makes All-Star team

The Appalachian League named its 2012 All-Star Team with outfielder Bubba Starling, former Nebraska football recruit, representing Burlington (N.C.) on the 14-player squad.

Starling chose baseball over football, after the Royals drafted him in the first round (fifth overall) in the 2011 draft out of Gardner-Edgerton (Kan.) High School. Starling was selected as the squad’s utility outfielder. He is batting .283 with 10 home runs, 33 RBI and 10 stolen bases through 49 games.
