An organization that helps the working poor put food on the table received a helping hand today. Chelsea Salisou is the spokesperson with Heartland Hope Mission and says they are the largest food pantry in the state and more people knock on their door daily for help. With the help of area Hy-Vee food stores they won’t have to turn anyone away.

Hy-Vee collected an estimated 10 to 15-thousand pounds of food during a three day food drive earlier this month and delivered the food to the mission today. Last year Heartland Hope Mission provided meals, clothing, household items and hygiene products to more than 41-thousand needy families in the metro Omaha area.
