Three construction workers were rushed to a hospital Thursday morning after the floor they were working on at the new Hyatt Hotel at 12th and Jackson in Omaha collapsed. Battalion Fire Chief Daniel Olson says they had to bring in specialized equipment to rescue 33 year old Geraldo Villareal, 51 year old Ronald McGuire and 42 year old Jeff Carroll, all of Lincoln.
Officials say the three were pouring concrete on the floor and the supports were positioned properly. Investigators say it appears the construction company was following all the rules and regulations so the reason for the collapse is not known.
All three workers were taken to a hospital. One worker was seriously hurt but should recover.
