State senator considering education reform legislation

Omaha State Senator Scott Lautenbaugh plans to start the 2013 legislative session by introducing measures that would provide more oversight for the states education system. Senator Lautenbaugh was shocked at how much the retiring Omaha Public Schools superintendent is receiving in benefits and he says that has got to stop. He says through many discussions with school district staff he learned that administration costs continue to skyrocket and he would like to see limits on salary and compensation benefit packages.

Senator Lautenbaugh is also considering legislation that would put term limits on school board members, put a maximum number of members on a school board and protocol for the state to take over schools districts that are struggling.
