Rex feels good, up for test from strong Wisconsin D–Big Red Report (AUDIO)

Good news on running back Rex Burkhead. He said he felt no soreness in his knee after Saturday’s game against Idaho State. Rex and the Husker running game will have their hands full with a very good Wisconsin defense.

They held UTEP to 108 yards of total offense in the first half and just 77 rushing yards on 33 carries for the entire game. Badger linebacker Chris Borland was named the Big Ten defensive player of the week for his part. A team high 12 tackles, 3.5 for loss, two sacks and two pass breakups.

Wisconsin’s Heisman candidate Montee Ball left the UTEP game with a head injury. Right before fall camp, Ball was jumped by three guys late at night in downtown Madison, so not sure if this latest injury is related to that August incident, but Pelini says the Badgers are similar to NU in that they have other weapons besides Ball.
