First of four regional drought meetings is Tuesday in Omaha

In the past week, the U-S Drought Monitor Map shows that 98-percent of Nebraska and more than 75-percent of Iowa are in severe drought. U-S Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says USDA is holding four drought disaster meetings to help provide information to those impacted most.

Vilsack says federal agencies representing SBA disaster loans, USDA loans, Agencies will also provide information on what the Department of Transportation is doing in regarding the drought as well as the Corps of Engineers regarding water levels.

The first of four regional meetings is Tuesday, October 9th from 9am until 4pm at the Omaha City – County Building at 1819 Farnam Street. Three other regional meetings are planned for Ohio, Colorado and Arkansas.
