Loper volleyballer earns first MIAA conference honor

Nebraska-Kearney senior libero/defensive specialist Kaleigh Anderson has been named the MIAA Specialist of the Week for October 1st. This is the first award any Loper student-athlete has received from the MIAA.  Anderson (Lincoln SW) helepd the No. 1 ranked UNK volleyball team rally past Emporia State last Friday night, 3-2, and then beat previously unbeaten and 3rd-ranked Washburn in four sets.

Anderson dug up 27 balls Friday, setting a new career-high. That mark didn’t last long as she had 33 Saturday afternoon, just seven off the school-record set by Kelli Wemhoff in August 2006.

This week, UNK heads to MIAA-member Southwest Baptist to battle four teams (NW Oklahoma State, Henderson State, Ark.-Monticello and Ark. Tech) from the newly formed Great American Conference.
