She won a million…and she has stepped forward to claim her prize

Nebraska’s newest millionaire finally stepped forward.

The Nebraska Lottery reports that Barbara Maas of Hoskins has come forward to claim her $1 million Nebraska Powerball prize. Maas purchased the winning Powerball ticket at the Hy-Vee grocery store in Norfolk. Her ticket hit on all but the Powerball from the September 22nd drawing.

Maas, at first, didn’t realize she was a winner.

Maas told Nebraska Lottery officials her daughters called and urged her to check her ticket. She said she went online to confirm she had the winning ticket. Maas told Lottery officials she had no immediate plans for her winnings, other than paying some bills.

The Lottery projects the odds of winning $1 million playing Powerball at 1 in 5,153,633.
