An argument between a man and his girlfriend led to a one vehicle accident that killed two young girls. Douglas County Sheriff Department’s Chief Deputy Marty Bilek says the accident happened around 12:15 near Irvington. He says apparently the argument escalated to the point where Chanelle Tory asked Christopher Phelps to take her and her three daughters home.
Chief Deputy Bilek say Tory had just put the children inside the SUV and was just starting to buckle them inside Phelps took off and crashed about a block away. The SUV flipped and rolled. The two sisters, ages 4 and 5 were killed. Another child and Tory were taken to a hospital for treatment but their conditions are not known.
Chief Deputy Bilek says Phelps refused to take a sobriety test and was booked for two counts of motor vehicle homicide.
