Shawn Eichorst comes to Nebraska with the difficult job of following in the footsteps of a state icon, but after he was introduced as Nebraska’s new Director of Athletics, it’s clear that Eichorst is ready to embrace the task of following Tom Osborne. While it won’t be easy, he also has a few things working in his favor.
Eichorst talks about the advantages of bringing in someone like himself who is an outsider to the program. While it may be a tough job following Osborne, that’s exactly what Eichorst said he’s going to do. Since he doesn’t officially take over until January 1, Eichorst said he’s going to soak up as much as he can from Osborne and admitted he will be in his “back pocket” as much as he can his first two months on the job. The other advantage working in Eichorst’s favor is the athletic deparment at Nebraska is in great shape, a polar opposite of what he faced in his 18 months at Miami.
