Crash near Maxwell claims three lives, including two boys

Authorities in Lincoln County say three people died in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning on Highway 30 at a railroad overpass near Maxwell.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s office says that an eastbound 1999 Kia Sportage driven by 14-year-old Conner Gentry lost control due to icy conditions on the overpass. The Kia crossed the center lane sliding into westbound traffic.

The Kia collided with a westbound 1994 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 46-year-old Terry Grasz. Conner Gentry and his 10-year-old brother Colton, were occupants of the Kia were killed in the mishap.

A passenger in the Chevrolet Lumina, 45-year-old Elaine Grasz, also died in the collision. Terry Grasz with the help of a passerby managed to get Grasz out of the burning vehicle.

Grasz was severely injured and badly bruned, was flown to Brian Memorial Hospital In Lincoln.

The Gentry boys were on their way to school in Brady and the Grasz couple was traveling to North Platte for work.
