Three suspects accused of starting wildfire with “exploding targets”

Three people are now charged with sparking last weekend’s wildfire in northwest Nebraska.

Officials with the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands won’t reveal any information about the suspects, yet, as far as their names, ages or where they live.

What is being reported is that all three are facing charges in the blaze. They allegedly were shooting firearms at what are described as exploding targets in the area, which was a clear violation of fire restrictions.

Authorities say the actions of the three led to the wildfire, yet they left without reporting it. A total of six citations were issued and restitution will be sought to pay for the cost of fighting the fires.
