Former Nebraska U-S Senator Chuck Hagel is on President Obama’s short list to fill the open seat of Secretary of Defense. This isn’t sitting well with is former Congressional colleague 2nd District Congressman Lee Terry.
Terry says when Hagel served in the U-S Senate he was the defense critic and questions why someone with that opinion would be considered for the Secretary of Defense job. Terry says there is one theory that since work on the budget in Washington appears to be at a standstill required cuts across-the-board are likely including the Defense Department. He says maybe President Obama feels he needs someone who can dismantle part of it.
Hagel, a Vietnam War veteran, retired from the U-S Senate in 2008.
