NU football recruiting update–Big Red Report (AUDIO)

The Nebraska football team beat Alabama. At least in one recruiting battle. The Huskers received a commitment from Canadian offensive lineman David Knevel. Get this, at 6’8, 305 pounds, he’s expected to add another 40 pounds because of his lean build. Knevel had Wisconsin and West Virginia on his list as well. Once Bret Bielema left to coach at Arkansas, Knevel dropped the Badgers from consideration. Nebraska junior-college tight end target Beau Sandland is expected to choose among Nebraska, Miami and Arizona State this morning at Los Angeles’ Pierce College.

Two more junior-college targets, defensive tackles Lavon Hooks and Quincy Russell, still have NU in the running. One day after Hooks eliminated the Huskers, the Omaha World-Herald reports that Hooks confirmed by text that he still has Nebraska in the running. Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn and Washington are also in his top five. Russell has narrowed his list to NU and Oklahoma.
